Rock Maple

(Acer saccharum) A medium to large hardwood of eastern North America. Its sweet sap is the source of maple syrup. Colour can range from cream to pale yellow with fine brown growth rings. A beautiful, clear timber, it is durable and excellent to work. Australian consumers find this timber particularly appealing as an imported alternative to W.A. Blackbutt. The fine grain allows for good finishing and crisp clean edges to furniture designs.
